It is a medium sized snake with long stripes from the neck to the tip of tail. The longitudinal stripes are yellowish. The upper side of the body is greenish brown, and the lower side of the body is glossy white with red or gray shade near the dorsal side. The skin of the snake is keeled. The head is distinct from the neck. Prominent cross bars of black or dark brown spots are present.
মাঝারি আকারের এ সাপটির গলা থেকে লেজের ডগা পর্যন্ত লম্বা দাগ থাকে। অনুদৈর্ঘ্য দাগ গুলি হলুদাভ। শরীরের উপরের দিক সবুজাভ বাদামি, এবং শরীরের নীচের দিকটি চকচকে সাদা। নিচ থেকে পৃষ্ঠের পাশের অংশ লাল বা ধূসর আভা যুক্ত । এ সাপের চামড়া খসখসে। মাথা ঘাড় থেকে আলাদা করা যায় সহজে। এছাড়াও সমগ্র শরীরে কালো বা গাঢ় বাদামি আড়াআড়ি দাগ উপস্থিত।
The snake is diurnal and can be found in agricultural farms, open fields, grassland, and home gardens. It is one of the most common snake species found all over Bangladesh. This is a non-venomous snake species and hardly bite a human. They feed on small rodents, insects, frogs snails etc.
সাপটি দিবাচর এবং এদের কৃষি খামার, খোলার মাঠ, তৃণভূমি এবং বাড়ির বাগানে পাওয়া যায়। এটি সারা বাংলাদেশে পাওয়া সবচেয়ে কমন সাপগুলোর একটি। এটি একটি অ-বিষাক্ত সাপের প্রজাতি এবং খুব কমই মানুষকে কামড়ায়। এরা ছোট ইঁদুর, পোকামাকড়, ব্যাঙ শামুক ইত্যাদি খায়।
