The body color of this lizard is variable. It is usually light brown or grayish upperparts with dark brown spots. The head and throat of this species are red in breeding males with a black patch on the throat. The juvenile consists of two yellowish lines on each side of the body. The head is large with two separate spines above the tympanum. Body scales pointing backward and upward. 35-52 scales present around the midbody. Males are larger than females with swollen cheeks and larger dorsal spines.
এই গিরগিটির গায়ের রং স্থানভেদে পরিবর্তনশীল। এটির পৃষ্ঠীয় অংশ হালকা বাদামী বা ধূসর এবং সাথে গাঢ় বাদামী স্পট থাকে। প্রজনন মৌসুমে এই প্রজাতির পুরুষ গিরগিটির মাথা ও গলা লাল হয়ে যায় এবং গলায় কালো দাগ থাকে। অপ্রাপ্ত বয়স্ক গিরগিটির শরীরের প্রতি পাশে দুটি হলুদ রেখা থাকে। মাথাটি বড় এবং কানের (tympanum) উপরে দুটি কাঁটা থাকে। আইশ গুলো উপর ও পিছনের দিকে প্রবর্ধিত। শরীরের মাঝ বরাবর ৩৫-৫২ টি আইশ থাকে। পুরুষরা স্ত্রীর চেয়ে বড়, গাল স্ফীত এবং পিঠের কাঁটা গুলো লম্বা হয়।
It inhibits shrubs and trees, all types of dry and moist forests, forest edges, human habitation, roadside vegetation, and plantations. The species is diurnal and arboreal. Feeds mainly on insects, but occasionally vegetable items. Breeding occurs from April to September. females lay 6-25 eggs in a clutch, buried in moist soil. The incubation period is 42-67 days.
