It is a medium-sized frog with a small head. Snout is rounded and limbs are relatively short. The dorsal color is dark brown with two irregular orange or red bands from the eyes to the back of the body. There is a red band extending between the eyes. The fingers and toes are free. However, the fingertips consist of enlarged and flattened disks. There are two shovel-shaped metatarsal tubercles present. The underside of the body is Greayish with brown spots. The throat of the breeding male is black.

It is a fossorial species that lives underground and tree holes, and termite mounds. The species come out during June-July for breeding purposes. Larval development occurs in stagnant and temporary waterbodies. It feeds on insects, especially termites. Termites are their favorite food. This frog is active at night.
এ প্রজাতির ব্যাঙ ভূগর্ভে, গাছের নিচে বা উইপোকার ঢিপি বা গর্তে বাস করে। এরা জুন-জুলাই মাসে প্রজননের উদ্দেশ্যে মাটি থেকে বের হয়। ব্যাঙ্গাচি স্থবির এবং অস্থায়ী জলাশয়ে বড় হয়। এটি পোকামাকড়, বিশেষ করে উই পোকা য়ায়। উই পোকা তাদের প্রিয় খাবার। এই ব্যাঙ রাতে সক্রিয় থাকে।
